Update: Spokane Wildfires — Damage Toll Grows, Still 0% Contained

The fire situation has worsened rather than stabilized. The Old Trails Fire had grown past 5,000 acres by Sunday morning with no containment established, and Spokane County Fire District 3 confirmed 640 structures destroyed, concentrated in the Indian Trail and Five Mile Prairie neighborhoods, where residents returned to find entire blocks reduced to foundations. Combined, the three fires — Old Trails, Fairview, and Autumn Lane — have now burned more than 7,500 acres, forcing roughly 60,000 people to evacuate within city limits, with more than 4,000 firefighting personnel arriving from across 12 states and even Australia to help. Officials say there have been no reported serious fire-related injuries or deaths, though the Autumn Lane Fire remains especially active. As of early Monday, conditions remain volatile: gusty winds are expected to continue influencing fire behavior through the day, with large air tankers and "Super Scooper" aircraft now supporting crews, mainly on the Autumn Lane Fire, since activity on Old Trails and Fairview has moderated somewhat. Spokane Public Schools opened a free emergency day camp Monday for displaced families, running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Shadle Park High School.
