Jennie Says She Is ‘Deeply Sorry’ Over BLACKPINK’s 10th Anniversary Fan Event

Jennie has apologized to fans over the controversy surrounding BLACKPINK’s 10th anniversary fan event, becoming the final member of the group to address the backlash.

The singer posted a message on Weverse on August 17th after wrapping her previously scheduled festival appearances.

“I’ve also been really upset that we weren’t able to properly communicate with BLINK while celebrating BLACKPINK‘s 10th anniversary,” she wrote. “I thought I would be able to express myself better after finishing my final scheduled festival performance, so I’m writing this now.”

BLACKPINK held a fan meeting at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul on August 8th to mark the group’s 10th anniversary. The event drew criticism after it was announced just two days in advance and limited attendance to 40 fans. Jisoo, Rosé and Lisa had previously apologized.

Jennie thanked fans for their support over the past decade, saying BLACKPINK had been able to grow and dream bigger all thanks to love they received from BLINKs.

“On a day that should have been filled only with celebration, we ended up leaving each other disappointed,” she wrote. “From my perspective, all I can say is that I’m sorry, with no excuse.”

She added, “BLINK has been BLACKPINK’s greatest blessing and love. I’m sorry for showing an immature side of myself, and I want to say thank you for the past 10 years.”

Jennie’s apology came after an eventful solo performance at Summer Sonic 2026 in Osaka on August 16th.

During the set, she experienced microphone and wardrobe issues and briefly left the stage after being unable to perform two songs from the planned setlist. She later returned and explained that she had run into a problem with her outfit.

“I’m sorry. I had a little issue with my outfit today,” she told the crowd. “I didn’t expect it to be this hot or that I’d sweat this much. But now I’m back.”

Jennie appeared emotional and shed tears as she said goodbye at the end of the performance.

After the show, she reflected on her three-month festival run on social media, thanking fans for their support.

“Looking back, there were so many unexpected moments, so many highs and lows, and I’ve realized that’s just part of life.” she wrote. “I’m learning to appreciate every part of the journey for what it was, even the harder moments, because they taught me so much and helped me grow.”
